Dr. Ernie
Never before in the history of the world has there been a home page for ...

James C.S. Liu, M.D.

Hi. This is my lame home page. I use this page to stash some of my favorite bookmarks, and as an index of the other pages on this site.

My work pages include my biographical abstract, available either as a resume or a full curriculum vitae. There is also a page of bookmarks that I use for my work in internal medicine, and more or less empty pages about medical informatics and traditional Chinese medicine.

My play pages include bookmarks and information about some of my favorite hobbies, including cooking (recipes and such), media (books, movies, radio, and TV), travel (pages are planned for trips taken to China, Italy, and Spain), and Western classical music. I'm also working on a resume of my appearances as a performer and a list of upcoming solo and choral performances.

    Who's Jimbob?

This nickname is a remainder of my undergraduate days working at the college radio station, WHRB-FM. There was a jack-of-all-trades figure at WHRB a few years before me, who had worked in Studio Engineering and on our WHRB Program Guide. His given names were James Robert, and he was variously known as J.R. "Bob" or simply, "Jimbob."

So a few years later, when I started doing some of the same things, I inherited the same nickname. It sounded better to me than "Jim," a nickname that I don't really like. Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a starship captain!

Tangentially related to this is my brother's nickname, Edwick. Don't believe his story about Cheswick for a New York minute.
